Kenny Jackett: 'Tongo Doumbia unlikely to feature next season'

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett admits that midfielder Tongo Doumbia is unlikely to feature in his plans for next season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett has indicated that midfielder Tongo Doumbia won't be allowed to rejoin the first-team squad when he returns in the summer.

Doumbia has featured regularly in Ligue 1 during a loan spell with Valenciennes, scoring three goals in 34 appearances, but Jackett has revealed that he is unlikely to feature for the League One winners next season.

The 52-year-old is quoted by the Express & Star as saying: "He's under contract and in terms of his play and his form and the way things have gone, it's been closely monitored by our staff.

"We know where we are, what he's done and how he's done. No decision has been made yet. He could come back, but whether he'd feature, I'd doubt it."

The 24-year-old joined Wolves in July 2012 but he couldn't help the club avoid relegation to the third tier of English football.
