Kenny Jackett delighted to keep Bakary Sako

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett admits that the club had to fend off "very serious interest" for winger Bakary Sako during the transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett has admitted that he is delighted to have held on to winger Bakary Sako for the rest of the season.

The Mali international is out of contract in the summer and had been linked with moves to Queens Park Rangers and West Bromwich Albion, but after Wolves managed to fend off interest for his signature, Jackett has insisted that the 26-year-old will be fully focused until the end of April.

The 53-year-old is quoted by the Express & Star as saying: "The decision from the board to keep Sako we feel is an excellent one.

"We did have some very serious interest in Bakary and the board of directors were transparent with the player and talked to him as they always have done.

"It's great for us to keep him and we're really pleased with that. He will be giving his all for Wolves for the rest of the season."

After returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, Sako will feature in the club's squad to face Reading on Saturday afternoon.
