Wolverhampton Wanderers part company with coach Steve Hodge

Wolverhampton Wanderers coach Steve Hodge leaves the club, following the departures of a number of out-of-favour players.

Wolverhampton Wanderers coach Steve Hodge has left the club.

Hodge was brought in at the start of the season with the specific role of working with out-of-favour players.

"Steve came in last summer to fulfil an important role working to ensure those players not involved with the first-team picture were kept fit and available should they be required by Kenny Jackett, or ready for a loan or transfer if interest came in," Kevin Thelwell, Wolves' head of football development and recruitment, told BBC Sport.

Out-of-favour players Tongo Doumbia, Jamie O'Hara, Roger Johnson and Kevin Foley have all left the club since Hodge joined. Only Kevin Doyle and Georg Margreitter are currently in Wolves' 'Group Three' contingent.
