Kevin De Bruyne strikes late in Wolfsburg draw with Eintracht Frankfurt

Kevin De Bruyne's late equaliser earns Wolfsburg a 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Less than a week after shocking Bayern Munich with a 4-1 victory, Wolfsburg looked confident once again, but Frankfurt matched the visitors in a tight start to the contest.

Chances were difficult to come by until midway through the first half, when Bas Dost fired just wide after stretching to reach a cross from De Bruyne.

Dost's movement was proving to be Wolfsburg's biggest weapon, but a lack of service to the Dutchman halted their progress as Frankfurt defended impressively.

An extended spell of Frankfurt pressure almost brought the first goal from Alexander Meier as Diego Benaglio was forced into a fine low save.

A bright start to the second half from the hosts was rewarded before the hour mark when Takashi Inui's inviting delivery found Aigner, who fired home after a clever touch in the box.

Wolfsburg were quick to respond, but Dost missed another good chance when he headed just over the crossbar from Daniel Caligiuri's cross.

The visitors piled the pressure on in the closing stages as Frankfurt retreated to defend their slender advantage.

However, Wolfsburg finally made the breakthrough when Marcel Schafer's cross found De Bruyne, who slotted past a helpless Kevin Trapp to rescue a point for the visitors.
