Wigan Athletic come from behind to beat Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest lose their first game in the Championship this season after being beaten 2-1 by Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium

Wigan Athletic have come from behind to beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 at the DW Stadium and inflict the first defeat in the Championship this season on the visitors.

The home side started brightly but Forrest took the lead in the eighth minute thanks to goal from Andy Reid.

After a quick throw-in from Eric Lichaj, Radosław Majewski was brought down and Reid curled the resulting free kick in off the post.

Wigan soon equalised with a penalty from Shaun Maloney after Jack Hobbs brought down Marc-Antoine Fortune inside the box.

The home side took the lead 10 minutes before the break after Fortune's shot from long range came back off the bar and Jordi Gomez was on hand to score.

Forest had a great a chance to get back into the game moments into the second half through Reid, but he could only head Chris Cohen's cross over the bar.

Reid's chance was the closest Forest came to an equaliser as Wigan held on to make it a first defeat in the league this season for the visitors.
