Tom Lawrence's goal shortly before the break has given Rotherham United a 1-0 half-time lead away at Wigan Athletic in the Championship this afternoon.
The home side created the first real chance of the game when Callum McManaman slipped past three defenders and forced Adam Collin into a low save, before Rotherham's Lawrence had a shot beaten away by Scott Carson.
Midfielder Ben Watson then missed a great chance for the hosts at the DW Stadium, when the ball fell loose from a corner and he blazed wide from the middle of the box.
Rotherham's loan players were combining well around the Wigan penalty area, as Lawrence and Emmanuel Ledesma looked particularly threatening, and it took a fine block by James Perch to deny Lawrence when through on goal.
However, the former Manchester United player got his goal minutes later when he capitalised on some poor defending to slip the ball past Carson from close range.
