David Sullivan: 'We must get managerial appointment right'

West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan insists that the club must "get this appointment right" as they search for a new manager.

David Sullivan has said that West Ham United must make sure that they "get this appointment right" as they continue their search for a new manager.

The club confirmed that Sam Allardyce would not be offered a new contract shortly after their defeat to Newcastle United on the final day of the Premier League season.

The Hammers' co-chairman told the club's website: "I am dedicating every waking minute to recruiting the best available manager to drive our club forwards. It is a constantly changing landscape but we are being absolutely thorough in our search, by speaking to representatives of a number of managers and doing our own due diligence on each one.

"Given that, I am not expecting us to make an appointment for at least a week as we must do everything we can to get this appointment right. What is clear from our discussions so far is that this job is attracting names it wouldn't have done five years ago.

"When you combine our move to one of the best stadiums in Europe in 16 months' time with the board's ambitious vision and significant transfer budget you have an extremely exciting prospect for the right man. I want to appoint a manager you all feel excited by and one that will honour the club's traditions and history."

Former Besiktas manager Slaven Bilic, Real Sociedad boss David Moyes and ex-Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo are among the favourites for the job.
