Kevin Nolan: 'Andy Carroll red should be rescinded'

West Ham United midfielder Kevin Nolan believes that Andy Carroll's red card against Swansea City should be rescinded.

West Ham United midfielder Kevin Nolan has said that he believes Andy Carroll's red card against Swansea City should be rescinded.

The England international was sent off in the Hammers' 2-0 win over the Swans on Saturday after referee Howard Webb deemed the striker to have swung his arm at Chico Flores.

However, replays have shown that the contact was minimal from Carroll, with the Spanish defender seemingly making the most of the challenge.

"To be honest when I saw it first I didn't think he had caught him at all," Nolan told reporters. "I was quite surprised that he got the red card and I asked Howard Webb and he said that he had touched him, but what I have now seen on the replay, it is not good on Chico Flores's part.

"I think what will happen is that it will get rescinded. I think everyone who has seen it now agrees with that, even the opposition manager has said that it is not a red card. They have had their advantage, so I don't think he should be punished anymore.

"I think it should be rescinded, so we can have him back, so I'm hoping that they now do the right thing because if they don't it will be a travesty."

The Hammers face Aston Villa in the Premier League next weekend.
