Andy Carroll slams 'unacceptable' refereeing errors

West Ham United striker Andy Carroll launches a scathing attack on the 'unacceptable' level of refereeing in his side's recent matches.

West Ham United striker Andy Carroll has launched a scathing attack on the quality of refereeing in his side's recent matches.

The Hammers have been on the wrong end of a number of contentious decisions in the past few weeks, including this afternoon's 2-2 draw with Leicester City when referee Jonathan Moss awarded a late penalty against Carroll to allow the Foxes to rescue a point.

The striker described Moss's performance as 'unacceptable', and believes that poor decisions from the officials could end up costing his side a place in the top four.

"It is the same week in, week out. The same decisions, bad decisions costing us games. It is eight points now that we've dropped. It is not acceptable, to be honest. I know that, the manager knows that, all the players know that and a lot of the people standing around know that," he told PA.

"I mean, it is a bad decision - it is bad decisions he has given all game. It's not the first time and probably won't be the last. Whether they've got the camera, whatever you need - something needs to happen.

"We could have been third in the league now if we had eight points. Third - and now we're still fighting for fourth, fifth spot and we're slipping down by losing these points. We could be third and flying, and probably could still be in the cup. It is just disappointing and there's nothing we can do about it when others are making the decision."

West Ham, who are now winless in their last six matches in all competitions, take on Watford on Wednesday.
