Slaven Bilic: 'West Ham United deserved to beat Leicester City'

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic is "gutted" by his side's failure to beat Leicester City having succumbed to a 95th-minute equaliser against the league leaders.

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has said that he is "gutted" at having only managed a 2-2 draw against Leicester City in a match that he feels his side deserved to win.

The Hammers were behind to a Jamie Vardy goal after 18 minutes, and despite the striker later getting sent off, the scoreline stayed that way until there were only six minutes of normal time remaining at the King Power Stadium.

However, a contentious penalty from Andy Carroll was quickly followed by a stunning Aaron Cresswell strike to put West Ham ahead, before Leonardo Ulloa rescued a draw for the hosts after referee Jonathan Moss had once again controversially pointed to the spot in the 95th minute.

"We are gutted, we did enough to win the game, before the last five seconds. The game went that way, hard for the referee with the crowd. I feel for him. Although it was not a penalty. On one hand Leicester is right, it is not a penalty, they have been doing this all year," Bilic told Sky Sports News.

"We showed character and quality, even in the first half. They scored from counter-attack but we didn't lose shape. We coped well in the second half with counter-attacks and after the equaliser we didn't stop searching for a second goal.

"Cresswell scored a great goal and then that happened. We did enough to win the game and deserved to win it."

The draw leaves West Ham six points adrift of the Champions League places having failed to win any of their last four league games.
