Sam Allardyce: 'West Ham United must learn to see out games'

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce admits that his team must improve at closing out matches after they let a two-goal lead slip to draw with Spurs.

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has admitted that his team must learn how to close out games following their 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Hammers were on course for the three points at White Hart Lane on Sunday before two late goals from Spurs meant that the spoils had to be shared.

Having seen his side slip down to eighth place in the table in recent weeks, Allardyce believes that they need to be more robust during matches.

"Our flaw since New Year is how many times we've been in the lead and how many times we've not seen that into a victory," he told the club's official website. "Had we taken advantage of the positions we were in we would be in about sixth position in the league. If we'd turned half of the draws into wins we'd be up into the 40-point mark."

West Ham continue their Premier League campaign on Saturday at home to Crystal Palace.
