West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce insists that striker Andy Carroll must score more goals when he returns from injury.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that he has demanded more goals from the club's strikers.

The Hammers boss was critical of his strikeforce after they squandered several opportunities during their 2-1 victory over Norwich City.

First-choice forward Andy Carroll has been absent through injury and while Allardyce has acknowledged that he will be pleased when the 23-year-old returns to action, he has insisted that he must improve on his record of one goal in nine appearances.

Allardyce told The Sun: "Andy has only got one goal for us so far and he has to score more. All of our forwards have got to get better at finishing.

"The only disappointing thing about our win against Norwich was the number of chances fluffed."

Carroll is currently on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool.
