West Bromwich Albion add Stefan Johansen, Jefferson Montero to their squad

Fulham defender Stefan Johansen and Swansea City winger Jefferson Montero join West Bromwich Albion on loan for the rest of the season.

West Bromwich Albion have confirmed the arrivals of Stefan Johansen and Jefferson Montero on initial loan deals.

The Baggies also completed the signing of Jacob Murphy from Newcastle United with seconds to spare on deadline day, bolstering their squad for the final few months of the season.

Johansen is believed to have also held talks with Turkish giants Fenerbahce, but the 28-year-old - a key part of Fulham's promotion-winning side last season - has opted for the second tier of English football.

Montero joins from Championship rivals Swansea City, meanwhile, where he has struggled with injuries and has yet to start a game this season, all 12 of his appearances coming as a sub.

Speaking to West Brom's official website, boss Darren Moore said: "All three will give the team different dimensions. All three have excellent experience and a real know-how of the division. They are good players with individual skill sets which will benefit the team.

"All are wonderful characters which everyone knows is so important to us. They will add more competition to the team and add to our depth and numbers at a crucial time. You only have to take one look at the fixture list over the next couple of months.

"As a club we have not faced this kind of schedule for nearly 10 years and it is going to test us. I've tried to utilise the loan market as much as I can and maximise everything I am able to to help the squad. These players will do that."

Johansen, Montero and Murphy are all eligible to face Middlesbrough on Saturday, which kicks off a run of seven games in 21 days.
