Defiant West Bromwich Albion striker Brown Ideye vows to prove he is not "s**t"

Brown Ideye vows to silence his critics at West Bromwich Albion and prove that he is worth his £10m price tag.

West Bromwich Albion record signing Brown Ideye has revealed that he is determined to silence his Twitter trolls and prove himself a success at The Hawthorns.

Ideye joined the Baggies for a club-record £10m from Dynamo Kiev in the summer but the 26-year-old has yet to live up to his billing, making just one Premier League start.

Manager Alan Irvine has also left the Nigerian striker out of his 18-man squad for the last two games, but Ideye vows to bounce back from his early-season struggles in the West Midlands.

"A lot of people are writing on my Instagram and Twitter saying 'you're shit' or 'you're not worth the money'. I am just unlucky, it was unfortunate I got injured and when I was out the team was doing very well," he told The Mirror.

"I have found it difficult but it makes me stronger and makes me want to bounce back as quickly as possible. I know the money spent for me to be here and I just want to show the world and everybody that I can do it.

"I have never been a flop. I am a West Brom player so I have to support every bit of that and I am cool with it. I just have to bounce back as fast as possible because right now a lot of people are expecting a lot from me."

Ideye, capped 24 times for Nigeria, has scored just once for the club - in the 3-2 League Cup win over Hull City in September.
