Roy Hodgson admits England dreams

West Bromwich Albion manager Roy Hodgson admits that he would take the England job if it was offered to him.

West Bromwich Albion manager Roy Hodgson has admitted that he would take the England job if it was offered to him.

The Football Association are currently looking for someone to fill the hot seat after Fabio Capello's resignation last month.

When asked if he would take the position if the chance arose, the 64-year-old told talkSPORT: "Of course, yeah. I think anyone would. I don't think there's a very good reason not to.

"I don't know if [being England manager] is an ambition as such. It would be an honour of course if ever the offer came my way because, of course, it is the pinnacle of success in a way and certainly a pinnacle of coaching success if ever you're invited to manage your own country.

"I've managed other countries but I've never been invited to manage my own. It would be an honour but I don't have it set out as an ambition as such."

Hodgson has managed Switzerland and Finland at international level during a 41-year management career.
