West Bromwich Albion keeper Ben Foster thinks that there is more to life than football and has no regrets over leaving Manchester United early in his career.

Ben Foster has insisted that he could not be happier with life at West Bromwich Albion and has no regrets with his career so far.

The former Manchester United and England goalkeeper has revealed that he does not view football as an all-consuming passion.

Foster told the Baggies official website that life in the Midlands suits him down to the ground.

He said: "I never once regret what I've done in the past and I don't regret anything in my career everything happens for a reason.

"I'm too laid back, I don't take this football thing as a 24/7 pursuit. I love playing it, I love Saturdays but it's not the be-all and end-all.

"You learn from it and it makes you a stronger person on a football pitch. I learned that at a club like United it's very cut throat, succeed-at-all costs, you come away from it as a stronger person."

The 29-year-old has helped new Baggies boss Steve Clarke settle in seamlessly at The Hawthorns, with West Brom sitting in sixth place in the Premier League table.
