West Brom's Tony Pulis: 'Saido Berahino has been put on the naughty chair'

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis says that Saido Berahino has been put on the "naughty chair" after revealing that he wants to leave The Hawthorns.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis has suggested that Saido Berahino has been reprimanded for revealing in an interview that he wants to leave The Hawthorns.

The England Under-21 international told Sky Sports News that he intends to move on to "bigger things" when the season comes to a close in the summer.

Following the striker's comments, reports have claimed that the Baggies have scrapped talks over a new contract and will put the player up for sale in the next transfer window.

"He's been in the naughty chair, but he's okay. It's not too far from my desk," Pulis said in this afternoon's press conference.

"Again, I do feel he's gone and done an interview for something else, not for what he ended up talking about. The club has got to look at looking after the younger players and making sure they are guided through what is a minefield at times.

"I've spoken to him and I've spoken to his people. The most important thing Saido has got to do is don't talk about what he wants to do, but actually go out there and do it. That's what all the good players do. They actually go out and perform on the pitch."

Berahino has been with West Brom since he was 10 years old.
