West Brom would consider making Ben Foster's switch permanent should the stipulations of their loan agreement with Birmingham allow them to.

West Brom have admitted that they are eager to sign Ben Foster on a permanent transfer after his loan deal with the Baggies ends.

Foster is currently on loan at the Hawthorns from West Midlands rivals Birmingham City, while Boaz Myhill has made a temporary switch to St Andrews.

The deal contained a stipulation whereby the former Manchester United stopper would return to his parent club should they gain promotion from the Championship this season.

However, if the Blues were to miss out on a return to the Premier League, West Brom may make a move for Foster on a permanent basis.

"When we did the deal in the summer we said it wouldn't be considered if they got promoted or we got relegated, so if we're in the same division next season then that will be the case," Albion's technical director Dan Ashworth told The Birmingham Mail.

"If we're not, we would need, and will take, a goalkeeper. Ben has come in and done really well and we would have to consider."
