Gabriel Tamas departs Watford

Gabriel Tamas leaves Championship side Watford by mutual consent, with a move to Steaua Bucharest reportedly in the offing.

Watford have confirmed that Gabriel Tamas's contract with the club has been cancelled by mutual consent.

The defender arrived at Vicarage Road last summer and went on to make nine appearances before he was sidelined with cruciate knee ligament damage in September.

He has been in rehabilitation ever since then, but the 31-year-old will now continue his recovery elsewhere.

The Watford Observer has since claimed that the centre-back is a target of Steaua Bucharest, who are based in his native Romania.
