Controversial draw between Bournemouth and Watford

Watford hold Bournemouth a 1-1 draw at Dean Court, despite playing half an hour with 10 men.

Ten-man Watford held on to secure a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth in a controversial game at Dean Court in the Championship this afternoon.

Gabriele Angella had a mixed afternoon and the Italian opened the scoring on the stroke of half time when he netted with a close-range header following Lewis McGugan's delivery from a free kick.

Watford were on top for much of the first half and Cristian Battocchio went close when Troy Deeney played his teammate in just after the half hour mark.

Following the restart, Angella's afternoon took a turn for the worse when he was sent off for a professional foul on Lewis Grabban inside the area.

However, there was controversy surrounding the award as Joel Ekstrand actually committed the foul.

Grabban picked himself up to equalise from the penalty spot just after the hour mark before Andrew Surman went close with a lovely curling effort.

The Cherries were awarded their second spot-kick of the game with 20 minutes remaining but Manuel Almunia denied Grabban before saving the follow up.
