Ashley Williams: Wales qualification "massive for everyone"

Wales captain Ashley Williams admits that leading his side to Euro 2016 is the proudest moment of his career, and that reaching the tournament is "massive for everyone."

Wales captain Ashley Williams has admitted that leading his side to Euro 2016 is the proudest moment of his career, and that reaching the tournament is "massive for everyone."

Williams' side lost 2-0 to Bosnia-Herzegovina in their penultimate qualifier, but progressed to the tournament as Israel were defeated 2-1 by Cyprus, and the Swansea City defender believes that his side were always confident in reaching next summer's tournament.

"It was a bit weird at the end as we weren't sure that we'd got there," Williams told Sky Sports News. "We obviously lost the game which was disappointing, but obviously now everyone's happy and it's unbelievable scenes.

"I said at the start of the campaign it would be my proudest moment if I could [lead the team to Euro 2016] and it definitely is. We'll obviously enjoy tonight, and we need a bit of time for it to sink in.

"We always had the belief from the start that we could do it but we knew it was gonna be a lot of hard work, and it's been a long year really. I think it's gone excellent [sic] for us, we couldn't have asked for it to go any better. Just to get there now is massive for everyone."

Wales will take on Andorra in their final Euro 2016 qualifier on Tuesday evening.
