David Moyes: 'Phil Neville not ready for management'

Ex-Real Sociedad boss David Moyes claims that Phil Neville is not ready to manage Valencia yet.

Former Real Sociedad boss David Moyes has suggested that the Valencia job has come too early for Phil Neville.

Moyes managed the ex-England international at Everton before taking the former Manchester United defender back to Old Trafford as part of his coaching staff during his nine-month spell as United boss.

Neville, who joined Valencia during the summer, took training at the La Liga side on Monday after the resignation of Nuno Espirito Santo following the team's 1-0 defeat to Sevilla.

"I think Phil Neville will go on to be a manager in time," Moyes told The Sun. "Whether he's quite ready just now I'm not too sure and I think he would admit to that.

"I think he thought by going to Valencia and working under Nuno for a year or so it would be good for his education. It was certainly good for mine.

"Phil will look forward to it because he's worked under myself, he's seen Nuno work and he's no slouch. He'll know what to do."

Neville is working alongside interim coach Voro until a new manager is appointed.
