Udinese midfielder Alexander Merkel reveals a desire to return to the Bundesliga.

Udinese midfielder Alexander Merkel has admitted that he wants to return to Germany at some point in the future.

The 21-year-old, who joined Udinese from AC Milan last January, began his career in the Bundesliga with Stuttgart.

"Back in January I had talks with various clubs, also with a few from Germany. It did not work out as I preferred to remain in Italy then," Merkel told Sport1.

"Basically I am keen on playing Bundesliga football one day in the future. There are great teams in the league and those stadiums are always sold out."

A number of Bundesliga sides are believed to be interested in his services.
