League One roundup

Tranmere Rovers stay top of League One on a night that featured a number of heavy defeats for big-name clubs.

Tranmere Rovers have kept their place at the top of the League One table with a comfortable 3-0 victory against Bury.

Andy Robinson scored two penalties as Rovers also maintained their 100% home record in the league this season.

Stevenage Borough sit two points behind in second thanks to a 3-1 win over Walsall.

Preston North End climbed into the playoff places with the biggest scoreline of the evening, thumping Hartlepool United 5-0 at Deepdale.

Shrewsbury Town produced another high scoreline, thrashing managerless Coventry City 4-1 to inflict a fourth-straight defeat on the Sky Blues.

Portsmouth are also still looking for their first win of the campaign after Swindon Town left Fratton Park with all three points.

Matt Ritchie and Andy Williams scored the goals in a 2-1 success for Town, who climb to eighth in the table.

Leyton Orient got their third straight win with a 4-1 rout against Yeovil Town, who are now without a win in three.

Elsewhere there were score draws between Bournemouth and Brentford, Colchester United and Crawley Town, Mk Dons and Notts County plus Oldham and Scunthorpe United.

Finally promotion favourites Sheffield United were unable to find the target against Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers, who left Bramall Lane with a point after a goalless draw.
