Preview: Tottenham Hotspur Ladies vs. West Ham United Women - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Women's Super League clash between Tottenham Hotspur Ladies and West Ham United Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies will round off their 2023-24 campaign with a home clash against fellow London club West Ham United Women.

Having collected 28 points from 21 matches, Spurs will head into Saturday's fixture in sixth place, while the Hammers are languishing in 11th spot with 15 points.

Robert Vilahamn has overseen significant progress in his first season as Tottenham boss, guiding the club to their first FA Cup final while bettering last season's WSL tally by 10 points.

Unfortunately for Spurs, their memorable run to Wembley ended with a heavy 4-0 defeat in last Sunday's final clash with Man United.

They then fell to a narrow 1-0 loss in Wednesday's league game against Chelsea, leaving them without a win in five competitive matches.

While they are guaranteed to finish in sixth spot, Tottenham will still be determined to end the season on a positive note by claiming their first league win since March.

They are also looking to complete a league double over West Ham after picking up a dramatic 4-3 away victory when the two sides last met in January.

West Ham will finish short of last season's eighth-placed finish after winning just three of their 21 league matches this term (D6, L12).

Although it has been a tough campaign, the Hammers are nine points clear of basement side Bristol City, ensuring that they can look forward to a seventh consecutive season in the WSL.

Before they focus on next term, Rehanne Skinner's side will attempt to end an eight-game winless run in Saturday's away clash with Spurs.

West Ham have drawn their last two outings by a 1-1 scoreline, including their most recent meeting with Leicester City, where Riko Ueki saw her opener cancelled out by Sophie Howard.

The Hammers will now look to replicate the 2-0 victory that they picked up in last season's away meeting with Tottenham.

Team News

Tottenham goalkeeper Barbora Votikova is set to start a second straight game after Becky Spencer picked up a knock in the FA Cup final.

Molly Bartrip missed the midweek clash with Chelsea due to illness, and the defender remains a doubt for the final match of the 2023-24 season.

Charlotte Grant is set to replace Sweden international Amanda Nilden, who was stretchered off in the first half of Wednesday's defeat.

Vilahamn could be tempted to make a couple more changes, with Martha Thomas and Matilda Vinberg both in contention to start.

As for the visitors, they are expected to be without Katrina Gorry, Kristie Mewis and Abbey-Leigh Stringer due to their respective injury issues.

Shelina Zadorsky is ineligible to face her parent club after joining West Ham on loan from Tottenham in the winter transfer window.

Ueki and Vivianne Asseyi will offer the visitors' main attacking threats, having scored 11 of West Ham's 19 league goals between them.

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies possible starting lineup:
Votikova; Grant, Turner, Buhler, Neville; Spence, Summanen; Naz, Thomas, Vinberg; England

West Ham United Women possible starting lineup:
Arnold; Denton, Cissoko, Tysiak, Smith; Shimizu, Hayashi; Ziu, Snerle, Asseyi; Ueki

We say: Tottenham Hotspur Ladies 1-1 West Ham United Women

While Spurs have made progress this season, they have experienced a drop-off in results in recent weeks, and with that in mind, we think that they may have to settle for a point against a West Ham side that has drawn three of their last four matches.
