Ki Sung-yueng insists he will recover from international duty in time for Chelsea

Ki Sung-yeung insists that he will sleep on the flight back to Wales from Korea to be ready for Swansea City's clash with Chelsea.

Swansea City midfielder Ki Sung-yueng will sleep all the way back from Asia in order to recover from international duty in time for the Swans' Premier League clash with Chelsea next weekend.

Ki has joined up with the South Korea team for games against Venezuela and Uruguay, but the midfield playmaker faces a gruelling journey straight back to Wales to begin preparing for Swansea's top-of-the-table meeting with the Blues in eight days' time.

"I have to fly 10 hours (to Korea) so I will be very tired, I need to overcome this," Ki is quoted as saying by the South Wales Evening Post.

"International players always play for their countries. It's not just us Chelsea will have players who also play games, so it will be interesting.

"International games are very important for me because to represent your country is not easy — it is privilege for me. The way to cope is just to sleep. I eat well and recover in the aeroplane."

Swansea reportedly turned down a £10m offer for Ki from Sunderland this summer.
