Sunderland have reportedly offered free agent Charles N'Zogbia a Premier League lifeline after his impressive showing while on trial.
The 30-year-old is without a team following the expiration of his Aston Villa contract earlier this summer, having made just two appearances for the club last season.
N'Zogbia has spent time training with Sunderland under both Sam Allardyce and David Moyes, with ESPN reporting that a permanent deal will now be offered as a result of his eye-catching displays.
After scoring the winning goal in last weekend's pre-season friendly against Rotherham United, Moyes opted to retain the Frenchman for the Black Cats' training camp in France and will now offer him the chance to become the club's first signing of the summer.
Sunderland made an approach for N'Zogbia in the January transfer window, only to fall just short of landing the former Wigan Athletic and Newcastle United winger.
