Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill admits that Stephane Sessegnon could leave the club due to homesickness.

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has admitted that Stephane Sessegnon could leave the club due to homesickness.

The Benin international and his family are thought to be unhappy with life on Wearside.

However, O'Neill has insisted that the club will do all that it can to help the 27-year-old settle.

"We wouldn't want to lose Sessegnon because of homesickness," said the Irishman. "His family concerns over there are something we will really have to look at, particularly now.

"I think the club has got a good reputation for trying to help. We will do everything we can, put it this way.

"We have someone here at the football club that is in constant touch with Sess. We have given him a little bit of time to go and see his family."

Sessegnon joined the Black Cats from Paris Saint-Germain for £6m in January 2011.
