Swansea City cruise to Sunderland win

Swansea City cruise to a 3-1 win at Sunderland on the final day, meaning the South Wales club finish 12th in the Premier League.

Swansea City signed off their Premier League season with a comfortable win at Sunderland this afternoon, a result that sees the Welsh side finish 12th in the table.

The visitors were ahead as early as the seventh minute thanks to a brilliant solo goal from Nathan Dyer, who found the top corner with an unstoppable shot.

City didn't rest on their laurels and quickly doubled their lead when Marvin Emnes hit a rasping drive into the roof of Vito Mannone's goal.

Swansea did have to survive a scare when Jordi Amat turned Sebastian Larsson's cross onto his own post, but Neil Taylor cleared the rebound away from danger.

Sunderland looked to have given themselves hope just after the break when Liverpool loanee Fabio Borini curled his shot from the edge of the area into the top corner of Gerhard Tremmel's net.

However, thoughts of a second-half comeback were destroyed after a brilliant Emnes run resulting in the ball falling to Wilfried Bony, who netted his 24th goal of the season.

Bony almost added a fourth goal late on when his deflected shot was well taken by Mannone, but the Swans held on to their lead and, with results elsewhere helping them, claimed 12th place in the league.
