Gus Poyet: 'A point should be enough for Sunderland to stay up'

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet believes that a point should be enough for his side to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has claimed that a point from their final two fixtures should see his side avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The Black Cats are currently two points above 18th-placed Norwich City with a game in hand and a superior goal difference.

Poyet's team play host to West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday night, and the Uruguayan is convinced that a draw will keep them in the top flight for another season.

"The idea is to be concentrated on us in the way we have been in the last few games - to not change anything," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"A point would be enough, not mathematically, but realistically because if we lose the last game 7-0 and Norwich beat Arsenal (on the final day) I would think something strange is going on in those two games."

Sunderland have won their last three matches in the Premier League.
