Sunderland's John O'Shea wants strong finish

Sunderland defender John O'Shea hopes that the team will finish the season strongly after climbing out of the Premier League's relegation zone.

Sunderland defender John O'Shea has expressed hope that his side can finish the Premier League season in style after climbing out of the relegation zone.

Gus Poyet's side have won their last three games, with the latest coming at Manchester United on Saturday.

Sunderland will be safe if Norwich City fail to beat Arsenal on Saturday, but O'Shea has said that he does not want to rely on other teams' results.

"We're not completely safe but we've got two home games now," TEAMtalk quotes him as saying.

"We want to make sure we get the results which mean we've earned the right to stay up, rather than worrying about results elsewhere.

"The confidence and attitude in the camp is fantastic and if we play anywhere near the standard we played against United, we won't go far wrong."

Sunderland host West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday evening before facing Swansea City on the final day of the season.
