Emanuele Giaccherini talks up Sunderland chances

Sunderland's Emanuele Giaccherini believes that his side are better suited to playing the bigger teams ahead of their penultimate game of the season against Arsenal.

Sunderland midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini has claimed that his side may stand a better chance of picking up points against the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea than they would playing teams around them in the table.

The Black Cats take on the London giants away from home in their final two matches of the season knowing that just a point is needed to guarantee their place in the Premier League.

Defeat in both could still see Dick Advocaat's side relegated, but Giaccherini, who returned to the squad from a long-term injury last weekend, believes that their style of play is better suited to facing the bigger teams in the league.

"I feel that we play very well against the bigger teams. There is a lot more space on the pitch against them and my attributes are suited to these games," he told the club's official website.

"I would maybe prefer to play Arsenal or Manchester City than a team who will put players behind the ball, but it will still be difficult especially away from home.

"We need to be tight in defence and not let them score to get the point we need and I hope to help the team in the last two games. If they need me I'm ready but at this moment in time survival is the priority."

Sunderland, who take on Arsenal in their game in hand tonight, are currently three points clear of the relegation zone.
