Team News: Adam Johnson handed Sunderland start for trip to Arsenal

Adam Johnson returns for Sunderland in their only change from last time out, while Arsenal make two alterations for tonight's meeting at the Emirates Stadium.

Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat has included midfielder Adam Johnson in his starting lineup for this evening's trip to take on Arsenal.

The England international, who has been charged with three offences of alleged sexual activity with a girl under 16, returns to the Black Cats side as part of the only change from last weekend's goalless draw against Leicester City.

A point for the visitors will ensure their Premier League safety, while opponents Arsenal are going in search of the win which will make certain of a top-three spot.

Arsene Wenger has opted to alter his team for the first time in seven outings, meanwhile, bringing Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs back into the fold in place of Nacho Monreal and Francis Coquelin.

Arsenal XI: Ospina; Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Ramsey, Cazorla, Wilshere, Ozil, Alexis; Giroud
Subs: Szczesny, Gabriel, Monreal, Coquelin, Flamini, Rosicky, Walcott

Sunderland XI: Pantilimon; Jones, O'Shea, Coates, van Aanholt; Cattermole, Larsson, Johnson; Graham, Defoe, Wickham
Subs: Rodwell, Fletcher, Reveillere, Giaccherini, Vergini, Buckley, Mannone
