Dick Advocaat: 'Talks are planned with Sunderland'

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat admits that the club have planned to talk to him about extending his stay as manager at the end of the season.

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has revealed that the club are set to hold talks with him about extending his stay on Wearside.

The 67-year-old has guided the Black Cats to three victories in his six matches in charge since replacing Gus Poyet in March to move the team two points clear of the relegation zone.

Advocaat is optimistic over his stay with Sunderland, but admitted that talks are on hold with chairman Ellis Short until the club's top-flight fate is known.

When asked if talks were scheduled, he told reporters: "I think so, yes. I can't say much about it, because we'll have to see what happens in the next 14 days.

"It's definitely the case that I enjoy it here. We're really enjoying what we're doing.

"I realise there's a lot to do with this club, but the main priority is that the club has to stay up and then making sure it has the right set-up for next season, but I have ideas, a lot of ideas."

Sunderland take on Leicester City in their Premier League clash at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
