Report: Sunderland interested in Salomon Kalou

Sunderland are reportedly preparing a bid for Lille striker Salomon Kalou if they fail to agree terms with Liverpool forward Fabio Borini.

Sunderland have reportedly expressed an interested in signing Salomon Kalou if their pursuit of Fabio Borini fails.

The Black Cats agreed a deal to sign the Liverpool striker on a permanent basis following his loan spell with the club last season, but have been unable to finalise a contract with the Italian.

According to the Sunderland Echo, Gus Poyet's side will make a move for the former Chelsea striker if they are unable to complete the transfer.

Kalou left Chelsea in 2012 to join French side Lille.
