Gus Poyet: 'Tyne-Wear derby biggest game of season'

Gus Poyet calls on Sunderland to show their fans that they "do really care" against Newcastle in the Tyne-Wear derby - the "biggest game of the season" for both sides.

Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet has called on his team to show their fans that they "do really care" in their Premier League derby clash away at Newcastle United.

The Black Cats, sitting just a point above the drop zone, head to St James' Park on Sunday to take on their North East rivals, who are ninth in the league, in what Poyet describes as the "biggest game of the season" for both sides.

He told BBC Sport: "I would like to say it's about three points, but for the whole two cities this is the biggest game of the season.

"We need to show our supporters that we do really care. We have won the last three - the first one under Paolo Di Canio, it was the end of the season and we needed the points and then in my first one the situation was similar.

"The second one we remember better, we were calm and performed well. I'm sure today will be different."
