David Moyes: 'Victor Anichebe can be unplayable at his best'

Sunderland boss David Moyes says that striker Victor Anichebe can be a valuable asset to his squad if he can recapture his best form at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland boss David Moyes has claimed that Victor Anichebe can be "unplayable" if he regains his best form at the Stadium of Light.

Last week, Anichebe penned a one-year deal with the Black Cats after being released by West Bromwich Albion, and after re-signing a player who he worked with at Everton, Moyes is optimistic that the move can prove to be a success.

The 53-year-old is quoted by talkSPORT as saying: "I would like to get back to the Victor I know who can be at times unplayable, but he also has to get himself in a condition to do that and I need to feel he is ready.

"He has something to prove. We have kept him on a short leash, he's got one year here, so it's up to him to get on pitch and score the goals.

"He will give us something else. We didn't get a striker in the window and Victor was available after the window had closed, so it let me get that done."

Anichebe is unlikely to feature when Sunderland face Everton on Monday night.
