Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher has expressed his belief that his side's 1-0 win over Southampton yesterday will give them confidence going into a tough run of fixtures over the festive period.
Fletcher scored the only goal of the match as the Black Cats recorded just their third win in their past 14 matches ahead of games against Manchester City, Tottenham and Liverpool.
The Scot acknowledges that his side face a tough period of fixtures, but believes that they can take plenty of positives from their win over the Saints.
"We approach them with a bit of confidence," the striker said. "We know we've got a hard Christmas period coming up but we've built a bit of confidence and we'll take that into the next game.
"The boys are all very tight. We all get on very well. It is a good bunch of lads. If we keep our heads down and keep working hard, we'll get results like this."
Sunderland now sit 15th in the Premier League table.
