Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has admitted that he is excited by the arrival of manager Mark Hughes at the club.
The former Manchester City and Fulham boss joined the Potters at the end of May following the departure of Tony Pulis.
"For us now it's a fresh start, new ideas and we go again," Adam told the club's official website. "The input for the last four or five days has been great and hopefully we can take that forward into the new season.
"The manager and his staff want to put their own points across but we can't hide the fact that we've still got to do the things that this club has been successful at.
"But with their fresh ideas it has been great and hopefully we can get ourselves in really good shape and look forward to the most important game of the season, which is the first one against Liverpool."
Adam scored three goals in 30 games for Stoke during the last campaign.
