Harry Kane optimistic over World Cup chance

Harry Kane hopes that his Spurs displays recently can earn him a place in England's 23-man World Cup squad this summer.

Harry Kane is hopeful that his performances for Tottenham Hotspur recently can earn him a place in England's 23-man World Cup squad this summer.

The 20-year-old is the subject of a 'Get Kane on the Plane' Twitter campaign, set up by Spurs supporters who believe that the striker merits a trip to Brazil in June.

Having scored three goals in as many games for the club as of late, the youngster admits that he remains optimistic over receiving a call from Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson about his summer availability.

"It's flattering that the fans said that. But I can honestly say I'm just focusing on scoring as many goals between now and the end of the season," he told The Sun.

"Who knows, if I get a few more in the three remaining matches, then anything is possible because stranger things have happened.

"Just look at what my mate Andros Townsend did at the start of the season. All of a sudden he was in the England squad and helps us get to the World Cup. You have to dream."

Kane will start in Tottenham's clash away to Stoke City this afternoon. You can find live commentary of the encounter here.
