UEFA regulation 'blocks Troy Parrott loan exit from Tottenham Hotspur'

Tottenham Hotspur's hopes of sending 17-year-old striker Troy Parrott out on loan on deadline day are reportedly scuppered by UEFA regulations on homegrown players.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been prevented from sending Troy Parrott out on loan on deadline day due to a UEFA regulation regarding homegrown players.

A number of clubs including Burnley, Charlton Athletic and Queens Park Rangers were thought to be monitoring the 17-year-old, whom Spurs are willing to send out on loan to gain more first-team experience.

Tottenham's own search for a striker was not thought to have affected their intention to offload the youngster, but The Mirror reports that any exit would have threatened his status as a homegrown player.

Parrott must be registered as Tottenham continuously for three years in order to be classed as homegrown, which is an important factor when selecting squads for the Premier League and Champions League.

The forward joined Spurs aged 15 and does not celebrate his 18th birthday until February 4, meaning that he missed out on the three-year threshold by a matter of days.

Parrott has only made two senior appearances for Spurs so far, including making his Premier League debut last month.
