Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly started negotiations with Sampdoria over a summer deal for defender Joachim Andersen.
The 22-year-old is believed to been targeted as a direct replacement for Toby Alderweireld, whom rival clubs can purchase for a cut-price £25m this summer.
Andersen is considered one of the hottest defensive talents in Italian football and is valued by Sampdoria at around £22m, reflecting his status as a regular in the heart of defence.
Calciomercato reports that Tottenham have followed up their initial interest by reaching out to the Serie A side's vice-president Antonio Romei and lawyer Paolo Busardo, both of whom were in London on Wednesday.
However, it is claimed that Juventus and Inter Milan are also in the running to sign Andersen, which could potentially drive up his valuation.
