Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly regarded as the frontrunners to sign Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij during the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly regarded as the favourites to sign Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrj.

Providing that he remains in charge of Spurs in the long term, head coach Antonio Conte is expected to make widespread changes to his squad during the summer.

In January, the Premier League outfit brought in Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski from Serie A giants Juventus, and it appears that Conte will return to Italy's top flight for more additions.

According to InterLive, Spurs are leading the race to sign De Vrij, who is regarded as a key member of Inter's three-man backline.

The 30-year-old has made 114 appearances in Serie A since his arrival from Lazio in 2018, helping Inter win the title during the 2020-21 campaign.

However, with the Netherlands international's contract due to expire in 2023, the reigning Serie A champions may have to consider a sale at the end of the season.

The report says that Barcelona may emerge as rivals for De Vrij, with Memphis Depay an option to move in the opposite direction.
