Tottenham Hotspur confirm that goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has left the club to complete a permanent move to Los Angeles FC.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that veteran goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has left the club to complete a permanent move to MLS outfit Los Angeles FC.

The 37-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the summer and is believed to have been close to making the switch to Lazio.

Lloris ultimately remained with Spurs, but he has not been involved this season, with Guglielmo Vicario and Fraser Forster both ahead of him in the pecking order.

The ex-France international had been due to enter the final six months of his contract with Tottenham, but it has now been confirmed that he has moved to North America.

"We can confirm that Hugo Lloris will depart the club on a permanent transfer to MLS side Los Angeles FC," read a statement on the club's official website.

"One of our greatest servants, seventh on our all-time appearance list with 447 in all competitions, captain for nine years, Hugo will end an 11-year association with us for a new adventure in America."

Lloris started his professional career at Nice before moving to Lyon, making 201 appearances for the club ahead of a switch to Spurs in the summer of 2012.

"Hugo is arguably the most successful goalkeeper of his generation and a proven winner. We are incredibly excited that Hugo has chosen LAFC for the next phase of his illustrious career," LAFC Co-President & General Manager John Thorrington told the club's official website.

"He brings unprecedented leadership experience at the highest levels of football, which we know will greatly benefit our club in our pursuit of more trophies.

"I would like to thank Tottenham for their collaboration, and I join all of Los Angeles in extending a warm welcome to Hugo, his wife Maine, and their three children to LAFC."

A statement on the MLS outfit's official website read: "The Los Angeles Football Club announced today that the Club has signed legendary French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to a guaranteed contract through 2024 with options for 2025 and 2026.

"Lloris will occupy an international roster slot upon the receipt of his P1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC)."

As well as making 447 appearances for Tottenham, Lloris also featured on 145 occasions for France during his international career, winning the 2018 World Cup and 2020-21 UEFA Nations League in the process.
