Jake Livermore wanted Hull City stay

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jake Livermore says that he convinced the club to allow him to remain at Hull City on loan for the rest of the season.

Jake Livermore has revealed that he convinced Tottenham Hotspur to allow him to remain at Hull City for the remainder of the season, rather than recall him in January.

The 24-year-old midfielder was allowed to link up with the Tigers last summer, due to first-team opportunities being limited at White Hart Lane.

He was linked with a move back to North London last month after Tim Sherwood succeeded Andre Villas-Boas as Spurs boss, but Livermore has said that he wanted to see the campaign out with Hull.

He told the Hull Daily Mail: "I spoke to people at both clubs and just stressed that I wanted to stay here and play football.

"I think within that, Tottenham allowed me to stay until the end of the season.

"I think it was just something to do with Tottenham wanting to push Hull's arm. With what I said to Tottenham it became apparent it was the best for all three parties for me to stay."

Livermore has scored two goals in 25 appearances for Hull this season.
