Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder David Ginola has told forward Harry Kane to ignore reported interest from Manchester United to stay with Spurs.

Kane, 23, scored 35 times in 38 appearances for Spurs last season, and has now found the back of the net on 99 occasions in just 165 matches for the team that he joined in 2004.

It has been claimed that the England international is a £100m transfer target for United boss Jose Mourinho, but Ginola believes that it is vital for Spurs to keep hold of their talisman entering the 2017-18 campaign.

"Harry Kane should stay at Spurs. Spurs need Harry Kane to stay if they are to win the Premier League next season. That's very important. Tottenham had a great season and finished runners-up last year," Ginola told talkSPORT.

"They need to keep their best assets if they want to win anything in the next few years, and Harry Kane, along with the likes of Dele Alli, is one of their best assets."

A recent report suggested that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy values Kane in the region of £200m.
