Gareth Bale has reportedly urged Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho to push through a deal for Swansea City centre-back Joe Rodon.
Spurs were busy during the international transfer window but missed out on a new central defender, failing with late attempts to sign Milan Skriniar.
Tottenham also saw a deadline-day bid for Rodon turned down by Swansea, but the Premier League outfit have until 5pm on Friday to sign the defender before the domestic window closes.
Bale knows Rodon well from international duty with Wales, and Duncan Castles told the Transfer Window Podcast that Tottenham's loanee from Real Madrid has strongly endorsed the club's move for Rodon.
However, Swansea are thought to be holding out for an £18m bid for the 22-year-old - a fee Tottenham are unwilling to meet following a big-spending summer already.
Mourinho's squad has already been bolstered with the likes of Bale, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Sergio Reguilon, Matt Doherty and Carlos Vinicius this summer.
Tottenham have also been tipped to revive their interest in Skriniar in January, although Rodon represents a significantly cheaper option than the £60m-rated Inter Milan centre-back.
