Diego Costa's wage demands could price the striker out of a return to English football, according to a report.

Diego Costa's substantial wage demands could reportedly price the striker out of a return to the Premier League.

The 32-year-old is currently available on a free transfer, having left Atletico Madrid earlier this month.

The Spain international has been linked with a return to England, where he scored 58 times in 120 appearances for Chelsea between 2014 and 2017.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur are two of the clubs to be credited with an interest, but according to The Mirror, Costa's wage demands are causing problems.

The report claims that the forward would want more than £250,000 a week from his next club, which neither Wolves nor Tottenham are likely to be prepared to pay in the current climate.

Costa struggled with injuries in the first half of the 2020-21 campaign, managing just two goals in seven appearances for Diego Simeone's side before moving on.
