Bayern Munich are willing to spend more than £87.5m on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane next summer, according to a report.

Bayern Munich are reportedly prepared to spend more than €100m (£87.5m) on Harry Kane during next summer's transfer window.

The Bundesliga champions are expected to be in the market for a new centre-forward in 2023, having not signed a replacement for Robert Lewandowski following his switch to Barcelona.

Kane is believed to have been identified by Bayern as their leading target, with his contract at Tottenham Hotspur due to expire in the summer of 2024.

According to TZ, the England captain is wanted by senior figures at Allianz Arena, and the club would be prepared to pay in excess of €100m (£87.5m) to bring him to Munich.

Uli Hoeness, who is the honorary president of Bayern, detailed the team's need for a new forward following last weekend's 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

"One thing is for sure, I think we're already missing a nine. It was an important, difficult decision to give up Robert, with the risk that you wouldn't score certain goals - like [Anthony] Modeste yesterday," he told Bavarian Radio.

Kane was questioned on a possible move to Bayern ahead of Tottenham's Champions League clash with Eintracht Frankfurt, and be branded the German giants "a top, top club".

"I'm focused on Tottenham Hotspur and trying to do my best for us," he said on Tuesday. "Bayern are a top, top club - but all my concentration is on Tottenham and trying to win tomorrow night."

Journalist Florian Plettenberg recently said that he is expecting Bayern to press ahead with a move for the Englishman during next summer's transfer window.

"I am convinced that Kane will be Bayern Munich's real market target next summer. It will depend on the player's performance this season, but Bayern has the money. [Kingsley] Coman, [Sadio] Mane, [Serge] Gnabry are there, but a number nine is missing," Plettenberg told Sky Italia.

Kane scored 27 goals and registered 10 assists in 50 outings for Tottenham in all competitions last season, while he has started this campaign with eight goals and one assist in 12 appearances.

All eight of the striker's goals this term have come in the Premier League, with the England captain yet to find the back of the net in three Champions League outings.

"He's very expensive that's the problem - but brilliant player, one of two or three who can play as a centre forward [as well as a] No 10, but he's very strong, brilliant with [his] head and both feet," Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann told reporters over the summer.

"He could score a lot in the Bundesliga, I don't know the price, but it's really tough for Bayern Munich. We'll see what happens in the future."

Manchester City were heavily linked with Kane in the summer of 2021, but the Citizens ultimately dropped their interest after reportedly being quoted in the region of £150m.
