Tottenham Hotspur claim fourth place in the Premier League after goals from Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe against Fulham.

Tottenham Hotspur have ended the Premier League season with victory against Fulham.

The hosts took the lead in just the second minute when Emmanuel Adebayor exchanged passes with Rafael van der Vaart before slotting inside the post.

Van der Vaart then fired just wide with a rare opening before John Arne Riise saw a Fulham chance palmed away by Brad Friedel.

Moussa Dembele smacked the foot of the post on the hour mark after making a yard of space before Spurs doubled their advantage minutes later.

Jermain Defoe had only been on the pitch for a couple of minutes when he pounced on a deflected Aaron Lennon effort and found the net.

Dembele again almost found the net late on but was denied by a stretching Friedel.

Spurs finish fourth and will play in the Champions League unless Chelsea win this year's competition in Munich next weekend.

Martin Jol's Cottagers end a positive season in ninth, level on points with Liverpool.
